A landmark exhibition and competition celebrating the 10th anniversary of Skyway Gallery in Shoreham-by-Sea.
Winners and runners-up from all categories will have the opportunity to exhibit their work at Skyway Gallery and receive a range of creative prizes and art materials awards.
ABOUT THE EVENT
Skyway Open Art Competition 2026 is designed to encourage and showcase new and existing artistic talent from across all areas of community, age and ability. Entrants can submit artwork through our online portal, with selected and shortlisted works exhibited during our anniversary exhibition in September 2026.
Our panel of judges consists of professional artists and designers. Prizes for 1,st 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded across multiple age categories.

In 2021 Katie received arts council funding for Immersed, a project about sea swimming, culminating in a public exhibition on Worthing seafront. Katie’s work has been selected for the Discerning Eye, Lynne Painter Stainers Prize, Royal Academy Summer show and the Jerwood Drawing Prize. In 2020 she was awarded 1st prize in the Derwent Drawing Prize for The Blue Bedroom. In 2017 Katie was artist in residence at Turners House.
Katie Lives and works in Shoreham by Sea.
Mel’s work has been exhibited in London, New York and Basel. Mel has won awards in galleries and publications in Canada, Spain and Belgium, as well as being a shortlisted finalist in the Royal Society of Arts, Student Design Awards.
His art is housed in a publication at the National Library of Spain.
Sara has exhibited in over 100 shows across the UK and Berlin. Her work has been featured on TV, commissioned by BBC1 for the Randall and Hopkirk Deceased remake, abstracts for ITV’s The Shell Seekers starring Vanessa Redgrave, oil paintings in BAFTA award winning BBC2’s That Mitchell and Webb Look and the Disney Channel.
During his 20 years of experience in design and branding, James has worked across various sectors, from private education to commercial real estate, in both agency and in-house environments. In James’ current role as Head of Design for the award-winning agency Brightec, he is the design lead on projects for Virgin, Waterstones, and WTW.
Skyway Open Art Competition welcomes artists of all ages & abilities from Adur, Worthing, Hove, Brighton and the surrounding areas.

8.1 Shortlisted Artists
Shortlisted artists will be contacted directly using the details provided during submission.
8.2 Delivery of Shortlisted Work
Selected shortlisted artists will be responsible for delivering and collecting their work within the dates specified by Skyway Gallery.
Skyway Gallery cannot provide storage outside (before or after) collection dates.
8.3 Exhibition Inclusion
Shortlisted artworks will be exhibited as part of the Skyway Gallery 10-Year Anniversary Exhibition.

Shortlisted Artists may choose to offer their exhibited work for sale.
If sold during the exhibition:
