We offer three ways to exhibit at the gallery

Standard Hire

Standard hire is suitable for independent artists, artist groups and organisations wishing to programme their own exhibition in the space.

Artists and organisations who are able to hire the gallery under the Standard arrangement are encouraged to do so, as this helps us continue to offer supported and funded exhibitions each year.

This is the standard arrangement used for most exhibitions at Skyway Gallery.

  • Minimum hire period: 1 week
  • Commission on sales: 20%
  • Full use of the gallery space during the hire period
  • Promotion via Skyway Gallery channels
  • Installation support and guidance where required

1 Week  – £340.00

2 Weeks  – £580.00

3 Weeks  – £810.00

Supported Hire (Not-for-profit / Charity)

A limited number of supported hire opportunities are available each year for registered charities, not-for-profit organisations and community projects.

Supported hire is offered at the gallery’s discretion and is subject to availability, project suitability, and alignment with the gallery’s public programme.

  • Minimum hire period: 1 week
  • Reduced hire fee
  • Commission on sales: 15%
  • Additional support depending on the nature of the project

1 Week – £290.00

2 Weeks – £500.00

3 Weeks – £720.00

Funded & Curated Exhibition Opportunities

Each year Skyway Gallery supports a small number of exhibitions as part of its funded and curated programme. These may be offered through application or invitation and are intended for work that fits with the gallery’s artistic educational or community aims.

Please contact us for Funded & Curated exhibition application criteria.

  • For these exhibitions:
  • The gallery may be provided free of charge
  • Commission on sales may not apply
  • Additional support may be available depending on the project
  • These opportunities are limited and sit outside the standard hire programme.

Anyone can apply to exhibit

Please send an email with some sample images and/or outline details to curator@skywaygallery.org. Make sure to include a short description of your exhibition or event and your preferred date.

The curator will then contact you regarding your application.

Skyway Gallery is a shared public space and therefore has guidelines as to what can be exhibited. All decisions regarding the gallery are at the discretion of the curator.

Hanging and displaying your work

A full list of display information will be provided to you at the time of your application... but here are a few fundamentals
Hanging pictures

For pictures to be hung on our STAS hanging system, the frames must have D-rings securely attached to the back.

Each artwork should be clearly labelled on the rear of the work with name of artist and name of the work. (please don’t use post-it notes for this!)

Creating your display information

Please ensure that every piece of work has a clear display label with information, including the title, medium, price, and the artist’s name.

We would recommend that artists write a bit about themselves and what motivates them to make art.

IMPORTANT: Exhibitors must use specific reusable glue dots to prevent damage to the walls. Blu or white TAC must NOT be used.

Plinths and display cases

Skyway Gallery has a selection of plinths and floor standing display cases.
